Blackstock Barn

Location: Union, SC

We were heavily involved in the Blackstock Barn project, creating many custom features from exquisite materials.

We assisted in framing the structure and building the lean-to additions. We constructed some of the staircases as well.

Then we went to work creating custom shelves and cabinets for the kitchen, blending seamlessless into the rest of the architecture. We crafted a set of impressive mahogany accordion doors with custom hardware, and bolstered the front of the building with antique paneled custom entry doors.

This project was featured in John Deere magazine.

Antique Tea House Repurposed From Indonesian Temple

Location: Ghent, NY

The “Tea House” project was unique for us in many ways. We first constructed this inspiring structure using cedar tree posts mounted on antique millstones, and utilizing antique teak beams that were repurposed from an Indonesian Buddhist temple. These hand-hewn rafters dated back approximately 400 years, and working with them was truly phenomenal.

And yet what might be more phenomenal is that after several years standing in its original location in Millbrook, NY, we were called upon to meticulously move it many miles away. We carefully dismantled the tea house, created schematics and marked all the pieces for future reconstruction. After a brief stint in storage, we put the entire structure back together, piece by piece, until it rested securely in its new home. This was an epic and satisfying project.

Setting the Wedding Bush

Location: West Stockbridge, MA

The tradition of “setting the wedding bush” has been done by timber framers for generations. We pay homage to the trees that have been used by cutting and nailing a sampling to the highest point in the rafters.
